At Food Bank of West Central Texas (“Food Bank” or “we”), your privacy is important to us and we know that you care about how your personal information is used and shared. This Privacy Policy, as part of our Terms and Conditions of Use, explains what information we gather about you, how we use it, and the safeguards we have in place to protect it.

Changes to the Privacy Policy

We reserve the right to change this Privacy Policy from time to time.  When we do, we will note the last update on this page and in printed forms.

As a donor submitting personally identifying information (“Personal Information”) to us or any of our staff, you consent to the terms and conditions of the policy and to our processing and use of Personal Information for the purposes stated below.

Food Bank does not store your credit card information when you donate or purchase items on our website or through mail or in-person activity. We may ask for personal information such as your name, mailing and billing address, zip code, phone number, billing information, credit card number, email address and any other information required to complete the transaction or enhance our communication with you. In doing so, we may transmit payment information to third parties, such as banks, credit card companies, payment clearance services or other service providers to complete the transaction. We may also provide shipping information to third parties in order to permit them to deliver products to you. We process standard credit card information (card number, card type, expiration date) via an encrypted SSL session.

Use and Disclosure of Personal Information

We maintain records of all donations made to Food Bank. Food Bank strives to keep such information private and confidential, and we have in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure such information. Donor names may appear in stewardship appreciation messages and honor roll type recognition materials but never with specific transaction nor contact information.  Donors may always request to be anonymously identified.

When you make a donation, you may receive further contact from us via communication channels including mail, phone, email, text, or social media.  Future informative and promotional correspondence from us may include opportunities to continue your support. You may always request removal from our lists by contacting Food Bank or removing yourself by following the “opt-out” directions in the correspondence you receive.

We do not rent or exchange lists containing your Personal Information with third party external organizations seeking contributions beyond the support of Food Bank For New York City. Limited donation information may be shared with our parent Feeding America organization or other data handling partners engaged in activities consistent with advancing our mission and core beliefs. You may opt out of having your Personal Information shared by us by following the process described in our general privacy policy and disclaimers.

We will use your information to comply with the law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to conform to the requirements of law or comply with legal process served on us.

We will use the personal information to protect against potential fraud.  We may verify with third parties the information collected in the course of processing a gift, event registration or other donation.  If you use a credit or debit card on the website, we may use card authorization and fraud screening services to verify that your card information and address matches the information that you supplied to us and that the card being used has not been reported lost or stolen.

You have the right to review information that we have collected about you.  To review that information please contact us in writing.

Except as described in this Privacy Policy or at the time we request the information, we do not otherwise disclose your personal information to any third parties.

Donor Disclosure

Your gift to the Food Bank of West Central Texas is deeply appreciated. The Food Bank of West Central Texas is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization headquartered in Abilene, Texas. Contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. We are committed to transparency and accountability, and we meet the standards set by Charity Navigator, Candid (formerly Guidestar), and the Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance. Opt-Out of the Access to Personal Information

If you are making an electronic donation and wish to opt-out of such release, simply click on the “Opt-Out” box contained on the donation form. Upon receipt of your request to opt-out, Food Bank will remove your information from any future marketing communication lists and no longer share your information with third party charitable organizations for promotional purposes. Please note that the limitations on Food Bank’s use of Personal Information and General Information as set forth above do not apply in the event of a transfer of Food Bank’s assets, and General Information and Personal Information owned or in the possession of Food Bank may be transferred, distributed, or sold as part of Food Bank or its assets, except as prohibited by law.

 

If we have sent you a promotional email, you may send us a return email to the address specified in the email asking to be omitted from future promotional email distributions. This opt-out does not apply to transactional emails regarding your donation or updates to our policies.

Client Information; Specific Consent Forms

As part of our service work with clients we may collect Personal Information and other sensitive information of clients. This information is provided voluntarily as part of receiving the services. If we collect this information offline, our use and disclosure of such information shall be subject to a separate consent form.  We only collect and use this information in accordance with this Privacy Policy or as set forth in the applicable consent form for the client. To the extent that there is any conflict between the terms of an applicable consent form and this privacy policy, the terms of the applicable consent form will control with respect to the information covered by the consent form. It is uniquely yours and can only be read by the server that gave it to you. How We Work with Third-Party Vendors

We work with a variety of third-party vendors who help us process data, facilitate the operation of the Food Bank website, accept online orders for merchandise and deliver messages to you on other platforms. For example, outside vendors may help us analyze traffic on our site, process credit card transactions, accept apparel orders or facilitate activities such as the collection and delivery of petition signatures. To the extent that any vendor has access to personally identifiable data about you, by virtue of the fact that it participates in the operation of the Food Bank website, we require that vendor to complete a non-disclosure agreement and allow us to use a payment card industry (PCI) complaint payment processor. The signed non-disclosure agreement promises that the third-party vendor will keep your data confidential and use it only for the purpose of carrying out the functions we have engaged it to perform. That is true both as to passively collected data and as to voluntarily submitted data, and also as to data from any cookie or other tracking device.

 

We never use or share the personally identifiable information provided to us online in ways unrelated to the ones described above without also providing you an opportunity to opt out or otherwise prohibit such unrelated uses.

Severability

Commenting or Posting on a Food Bank of West Central Texas social media account

Food Bank of West Central Texas shares information, images and video with the public through external social media websites. Comments or posts made by the public to these sites are reviewed by designated Food Bank staff and, while comments or posts will not be edited by the Food Bank of West Central Texas, the Food Bank reserves the right to maintain a positive environment and will delete content and block individuals from individual channels if they do not follow the guidelines outlined below:

 

1. The use of obscene, threatening or harassing language is prohibited.
2. Comments or posts will be deleted if they appear to be off topic to the conversation or subject addressed in the original post.
3. Personal attacks of any kind or offensive comments or posts that target or disparage any ethnic, racial, age, or religious group, gender, sexual orientation or disability status are prohibited.
4. Comments or posts must not be clearly commercial in nature.
5. Spam or system glitches will be deleted.
6. Defamatory or libelous comments or posts are prohibited.
7. Comments or posts advocating illegal activity or posting of material that violates copyrights or trademarks of others are prohibited.

Users may only post their own, original content. Reproduced or borrowed content that reasonably appears to violate third party rights will be deleted.

 

Recourse

When the Food Bank of West Central Texas identifies content for deletion, the first step will be to delete the post or comment. If the poster continues to post content flagged by the Food Bank of West Central Texas, Food Bank staff will contact the poster, outlining why their post was deleted and inform them that continued posting of the content described above will result in the poster being blocked from the community.

 

Reporting

Should a user notice a violation of these guidelines and policies, they should inform Food Bank of West Central Texas staff at 325.695.6311 or marketing@fbwct.org. Reported violations will be reviewed by Food Bank of West Central Texas staff and appropriate action will be taken based on this review.

Mobile Terms & Conditions

1. There is no fee from Food Bank of West Central Texas to receive text messages. Message and data rates may apply–this can be checked with your mobile service provider. Charges are billed and payable to your mobile service provider or deducted from your prepaid account. Consent is not a requirement for purchase.
2. Data obtained from you in connection with this SMS service may include your mobile phone number, your carrier’s name and the date, time and content of your messages. We may use this information to contact you and provide the services you request from us. Alerts sent via SMS may not be delivered if the mobile phone is not in range of a transmission site, or if sufficient network capacity is not available at a particular time. Even within a coverage area, factors beyond the control of the wireless operator may interfere with message delivery, including the customer’s equipment, terrain, proximity to buildings, foliage, and weather. Wireless operators do not guarantee message delivery and will not be held liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
3. We will not be liable for any delays in the receipt of any SMS message as delivery is subject to effective transmission from your network operator.
